Card 1 โ€” The Goal

๐ŸŽฏ The Goal: Your brain cannot focus for 8 hours straight โ€” and pretending it can is why 3pm feels like wading through glue. Human energy runs on ultradian rhythms: roughly 90-minute waves of rising and falling alertness, all day long. Work WITH the wave โ€” 90 minutes of intense focus, then a real 15-minute recharge โ€” and you'll produce more before lunch than most people do all day.

Card 2 โ€” Step 1

๐ŸŒŠ Step 1: Find your waves instead of fighting them. For 2-3 days, jot a quick energy score (1-10) every hour. A pattern will surface fast: peaks (usually mid-morning and late afternoon) and troughs (the famous post-lunch crater). The strategy writes itself: schedule your hardest thinking โ€” writing, problem-solving, studying โ€” INTO the peaks, and push shallow work (email, errands, meetings that could've been emails) into the troughs. Same hours, same you; radically different output, just from matching task difficulty to wave height.

Card 3 โ€” Step 2

โฑ๏ธ Step 2: Run the 90/15 block. 1. Pick ONE objective for the block ('draft the proposal', not 'work on stuff'). 2. Timer: 90 minutes. Phone in another room, notifications off, one browser window. 3. Work until the timer โ€” when focus wobbles at minute 60, that's normal; shallow breath, back in. Can't do 90 yet? Start at 50-60 and grow โ€” focus is a muscle with progressive overload. 4. When the timer fires, STOP โ€” even mid-sentence (especially mid-sentence: an open loop makes restarting the next block effortless). Two or three true 90-minute blocks a day is elite output; most people never string together even one.

Card 4 โ€” Step 3

๐Ÿง˜ Step 3: Make the 15-minute break an actual recharge. The break's one rule: screen-free. Scrolling isn't rest โ€” it's different stimulation, and you'll return with LESS focus than you left with. What actually refills the tank: walk (outside if possible), stretch, water + a snack, stare out a window and let the mind wander (that drifting feeling is the brain consolidating what you just worked on), or 10 minutes of NSDR (see that lesson). Set a return-timer too โ€” 15 minutes has a way of becoming 45. Then next wave, next block.

Card 5 โ€” The Cheat Sheet

๐Ÿ“‹ The 90/15 Cheat Sheet: 1. Map your energy for 2-3 days; hardest work rides the peaks. 2. One objective per block, phone in another room, 90-minute timer. 3. Wobble at minute 60 is normal โ€” breathe, continue. 4. Stop at the bell, even mid-sentence (easy restart tomorrow). 5. Break = screen-free: walk, stretch, window-stare, NSDR. 6. 2-3 real blocks/day beats 8 hours of half-focus, every time. Ride the wave; stop rowing against it.
